Connecting PayPal

How to connect your PayPal Business account to accept payments.

HytalePay uses PayPal to process payments securely. Follow these steps to connect your account.

Prerequisites

You need a PayPal Business account to accept payments. If you don't have one, create one here.

Getting Your API Credentials

  1. Go to the PayPal Developer Dashboard
  2. Log in with your PayPal Business account
  3. Navigate to Apps & Credentials
  4. Click Create App (or select an existing app)
  5. Copy your Client ID and Client Secret
Keep your Client Secret private. Never share it publicly.

Connecting in HytalePay

  1. Go to Settings > Payments in your dashboard
  2. Enter your Client ID
  3. Enter your Client Secret
  4. Click Connect PayPal

Once connected, you'll see a success badge confirming your PayPal integration.

Sandbox vs Live Mode

PayPal provides two environments:

Sandbox (Testing)

  • Use sandbox credentials for testing
  • No real money is transferred
  • Perfect for testing your store before going live

Live (Production)

  • Use live credentials for real payments
  • Actual money is transferred
  • Use this when you're ready to accept real orders
We recommend testing your entire checkout flow with sandbox credentials before switching to live mode.

Disconnecting PayPal

If you need to disconnect or change your PayPal account:

  1. Go to Settings > Payments
  2. Click Disconnect PayPal
  3. Enter new credentials if needed

Troubleshooting

"Invalid credentials" error

  • Double-check your Client ID and Secret
  • Make sure you're using the correct environment (Sandbox vs Live)
  • Ensure your PayPal app has the necessary permissions

Payments not working

  • Verify your PayPal Business account is in good standing
  • Check that your app is approved for payments
  • Contact PayPal support if issues persist
