Store Setup

Custom Domain

Use your own domain for your HytalePay store.

By default, your store is accessible at yourstore.hytalepay.com. You can also use your own custom domain like store.yourserver.com.

Default URL

When you create your store, you get a free subdomain:

https://{your-slug}.hytalepay.com

Your slug is based on your store name and is shown in Settings > General.

Setting Up a Custom Domain

Step 1: Choose Your Domain

Decide what domain you want to use:

  • store.yourserver.com (subdomain - recommended)
  • shop.yourserver.com
  • buy.yourserver.com
We recommend using a subdomain rather than your main domain. This keeps your main website separate from your store.

Step 2: Configure DNS

Add a CNAME record in your domain's DNS settings:

TypeNameValue
CNAMEstorehytalepay.com

Where to configure DNS:

  • If you use Cloudflare: Cloudflare Dashboard
  • If you use your domain registrar: Check their documentation

Step 3: Add Domain in HytalePay

  1. Go to Settings > Domain
  2. Enter your custom domain (e.g., store.yourserver.com)
  3. Click Save

Step 4: Wait for Propagation

DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate worldwide, though it's usually much faster (15-30 minutes).

SSL Certificate

HytalePay automatically provisions an SSL certificate for your custom domain. Your store will be accessible via HTTPS.

Removing a Custom Domain

If you want to go back to using the default URL:

  1. Go to Settings > Domain
  2. Click Remove Domain
  3. Your store will return to {slug}.hytalepay.com

Troubleshooting

Domain not working

  1. Check DNS: Verify your CNAME record is correct
  2. Wait: DNS propagation can take time
  3. Clear cache: Try a different browser or incognito mode

SSL certificate errors

SSL certificates are issued automatically. If you see errors:

  1. Wait 10-15 minutes after adding the domain
  2. The certificate should provision automatically
  3. Contact support if issues persist after 24 hours

"Domain already in use" error

Each domain can only be connected to one store. If you see this error:

  • Make sure you haven't already added it to another store
  • Contact support if you believe this is an error

Best Practices

  1. Use a subdomain: Keep your main site separate
  2. Keep it short: store.example.com is better than my-awesome-game-store.example.com
  3. Be professional: A custom domain adds credibility
  4. Update links: After setting up, update any links to use your new domain
